Today’s featured lens is all about the Acai berry. If you don’t know of it, I will let the lensmaster tell you what it is…
The Health Benefits of Acai Berry
The health benefits of acai berry was splashed all over the headlines after an appearance
on the Oprah Winfrey Show with Dr. Perricone, author of the health book “The Perricone Promise”. He touted it as one his number one foods. After that it spread like wildfire all over the country. The acai berry and its potential to revolutionize nutrition made its way to the US from Brazil, where it’s revered by competitive jui jitsu fighters for it’s ability to keep them energized and at fighting weight. That is one of the sources of its popularity in the U.S. too; helping people lose fat.
The list of its benefits
is long and distinguished, from strong anti oxidant properties to providing vitamins A, B1, B2, B3, C and E. It is also full of Omega 3 fatty acids, which scientists have determined help fight cardio-vascular disease.
The acai berry is actually the fruity berry of a South American palm tree. The berries are found in clumps high in the trees. Most find the taste delicious, and liken it to blackberry with a hint of chocolate after taste. People that like berries tend to really enjoy it.
Although this lens has a lot of information about the topic, I think it is still work in progress and can do with a few other items on it. For one thing, it could do with a bigger call to action and my guess is the lensmaster wants people to visit his site. Next the lensmaster needs to make more use of the bio section and add some text along with a picture.
If you have any ideas for this lens then please comment below.
Definitely put a picture of yourself in the bio section. Most serious lensmasters will not comment or rate a lens with the “orange guy” in the bio.
Also be sure to read this lens from Megan Casey. You will probably be okay re the weight loss, but it is a very fine line, and again, will cost you in Squidoo comments and visitors if they feel you are selling a weight loss product.

Change the title of the guest book. Default module titles will keep you out of some of the directories, like Isle of Squid - and might seriously hurt your chances of the lens qualifying for Giant Squid.
I do love the colorful pictures. and I think you need a conversation — a twitter storm or a debate just to get folks involved.
Note: I read once that you should never have a screen full of just text. Break up that long module titled “what makes acai berries so healthful?” wonder if that long list could be 2 columns somehow? I cannot help with that, but there has to be a way to do it.
add a picture to that last text module.
add an amazon book or two on the subject of natural health or Acai Berry.
whew! I got carried away! My sister (Ohme on Squidoo) and I critique this way for each other constantly - so please do not be offended.
one more thing - I open my comments to all visitors - not just Squidoo-ers. I get some great comments that way. and if not, you can always delete them. I think I have deleted 3 comments in my year with Squidoo.
Thank you very much for the feedback. I’m pretty new to the ways of the squid, so the feedback is welcome and very helpful. I’ll make the changes later this evening.
Information good but you need to expand the lens. Try to make additions at least every other day.
Keep at it - it gets easier - it just takes time.
Here’s hoping Joan will critique my lens when it is featured. Great suggestions.
Carol Smith aka Grandma Carol
Carol, just let me know when you “go green” or post the link here. we can still find it if we have the link. I love to do critiques - just know all my remarks are made in a spirit of love, not criticism. sometimes i get carried away. Ohme and I do so much of this for each other. so if i sound blunt, i don’t mean to. looking forward to seeing your creation!
I like the lens, but it does seem incomplete. The information is good. You need some other modules in there.
If it were my lens, I would put up some information to prevent people falling for the many Acai scams online, where they think they sign up for a free trial offer and actually sign up for a monthly shipment order that is hard to get out of.
This would be a very helpful addition to the lens, plus it would make it safer seeing that “Acai berry” info on squidoo lenses appearantly is frowned upon
